The Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. This role requires the ability to prepare tasteful meals in large quantities, follow prepared menus and portion control guides, and accurately prepare special diets, including pureed foods. The Cook must maintain a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment, record food temperatures, and ensure sanitizer buckets are properly maintained. Collaboration with personnel in all departments is essential, as is assisting with meal serving and cleaning of the cooking area and serving carts. The Cook will also participate in the orientation and training of dietary staff and ensure cleaning schedules are followed. This position has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
