This position involves preparing, assembling, baking, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, adhering to menu and dietary requirements. The role requires maintaining high standards of food quality, appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. It also includes performing washing and cleaning duties, maintaining proper labeling and storage of food and equipment, and operating various kitchen equipment. The cook will work with internal customers, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills, and must be able to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment. Adherence to standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines is essential, along with documenting critical steps for food safety. The position requires an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes, basic math skills for measuring, and proficiency in reading and understanding recipes. The cook must be able to be on their feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances within the hospital.
