About The Position

Kardium is seeking a Cook responsible for bulk food production in a high-volume corporate cafeteria environment. This role focuses on preparing large quantities of food safely, efficiently, and consistently to meet daily service demands for employees. The Cook follows standardized recipes, production schedules, and food safety standards while supporting smooth cafeteria operations and excellent food quality. This is an onsite work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of cooking experience in a bulk production, institutional, or high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong understanding of bulk cooking methods and batch production.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Safe Level I or equivalent certification is desirable.
  • Experience in corporate dining, commissary kitchens, healthcare, or education food service is desirable.
  • High-volume commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and heavy equipment is desirable.
  • Position requires standing for extended periods, lifting, and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook large-batch menu items (soups, proteins, starches, vegetables, sauces) according to standardized recipes.
  • Execute daily production plans to meet high-volume service requirements.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and portioning across all menu items.
  • Utilize bulk-cooking equipment such as tilt skillets, combi ovens, steamers, and braising pans.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
  • Monitor and record cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
  • Ensure proper labeling, dating, and storage of prepared foods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of production and storage areas.
  • Support cafeteria line service during peak meal periods as needed.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating inventory (FIFO).
  • Minimize food waste through proper forecasting and batch control.
  • Communicate production needs, shortages, or quality concerns to leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, prep staff, and service teams.
  • Follow corporate food service standards and workplace policies.
  • Assist with catering or special corporate events when required.
  • Support allergen-safe meal preparation and special dietary needs.
