The Cook position at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center, within the Food and Nutrition Department, is a full-time role responsible for preparing a variety of food items according to production sheets and established recipes. This includes maintaining time and production records, accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, and utilizing various kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers. The cook will prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles, as well as bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, and vegetables. Key duties also involve carving and slicing meats and cheese, garnishing and serving food according to standards, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of inventory. A critical aspect of the role is monitoring food temperatures and adhering to safe food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to prevent contamination and control waste. The incumbent must also demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for providing care to patients across all age groups, understanding principles of growth and development, and assessing age-specific needs as per departmental policies.
