About The Position

Elite Care at Fanno Creek, located in Tigard, prides itself on being different. We are not a typical long-term care facility run by a large corporation with thousands of employees. We are locally owned and operated. Our community is designed to provide residents and staff with excellent care, a high quality of life, and feelings of belonging, influence, and purpose. Additionally, we are the first community in Oregon to earn the JCAHO accreditation. The Cook's primary responsibility is to plan and prepare meals from scratch that are memorable, enjoyable, nutritious, and community-building experiences. As a cook with us, you will support residents and accommodate their individual tastes and service plans by engaging them in the meal planning and preparation process. You play an important role in establishing the kitchen as the heart of every home by creating a welcoming and supportive kitchen environment.

Requirements

Experience cooking on a large scale
6 months experience cooking in long-term care preferred
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
Obtain a food handlers card
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes
Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances
Experience in food service or restaurant experience required
Comfortable standing, stopping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently
Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
Must be a U.S. citizen and reside within the State of Oregon
Must have reliable means of transportation/commuting to work

Responsibilities

Preparation and oversight of household meals
Prepare healthy, nutritious meals, from scratch whenever possible
Maintain unit portions and report when a resident eats less than usual
Utilize fruits and vegetables grown in the Elite Care gardens whenever possible
Understand and follow each resident’s service plan as it relates to nutrition and hydration
Support residents’ autonomy by allowing residents to do as much for themselves as possible
