About The Position

Prepare food of consistent quality and assist in kitchen functions at the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans. Follow recipe cards and production and portion standards, prepare items for service, maintain food safety and storage standards, support buffet service, and help control food costs and waste. Operate and clean kitchen equipment. The position pays $21.00–$25.00 per hour and is not eligible for tips, service charges, or a discretionary performance bonus. Hotel experience is preferred.

Requirements

Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 pounds continuously, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Prepare food of consistent quality according to recipe cards and production and portion standards, based on server checks.
Start food items prepared ahead of time while avoiding over-preparation.
Date food containers, rotate stock, and keep perishables at proper temperatures according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
Check pars for shift use; determine preparation needs, freezer pulls, and line setup; and note out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to address food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
