Requirements

  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions, recipes, production sheets, and established procedures.
  • Strong knife skills and the ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn department-specific systems and programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience in healthcare or food service is preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient diets is preferred.
  • ServSafe or food handler certification is preferred; if not already certified, you must successfully obtain certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of menu items safely, efficiently, and according to recipes and production sheets.
  • Prepare multiple menu items at the same time while maintaining quality, accuracy, and food safety.
  • Work assigned production stations and meet meal deadlines.
  • Follow patient diet requirements and ensure meals are prepared and served in compliance with prescribed diets.
  • Maintain excellent sanitation and food safety practices, including following HACCP guidelines and applicable state and regulatory standards.
  • Complete daily cleaning assignments and maintain an organized, safe kitchen environment.
  • Monitor food and supply inventory and communicate procurement needs to department leadership.
  • Use department-specific technology and systems to support daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, leadership, and other members of the care team.
  • Help create a positive, respectful, team-oriented environment while also being comfortable working independently.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on department needs.
