This position involves preparing meals in a large institutional kitchen or military setting, adhering to established recipes, procedures, and sanitation standards. The cook will be responsible for ensuring food quality, temperature, and appearance are maintained, managing food and supply needs, and properly storing food. The role requires knowledge of kitchen equipment operation, sanitation practices, basic arithmetic for record-keeping and portion control, and understanding food characteristics and cooking methods. The ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively for meal preparation, and communicate with management and personnel is essential.
