About The Position

To provide food preparation service and assistance as needed by the Food Services Department.

Requirements

  • At least one year experience in institutional cooking.
  • Must have a current Food Handlers card.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, lift, and walk.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and walk.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands to fingers.
  • Cooks will be required to obtain an Agency Affiliated Credential through the Department of Health.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge in an institutional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Must have a current Food Handlers card and a copy must be in the employee file.
  • Prepare well balanced meals.
  • Cook and prepare food as needed. Willingness to work along side other kitchen staff.
  • Consult with other treatment service staff, as necessary, concerning client services.
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and order in the kitchen, dining and storage areas.
  • Maintain a high degree of self-cleanliness.
  • Understand need for personal hygiene and the wearing of clean uniforms.
  • Be able to understand portion control.
  • Keep a running inventory of food and other kitchen supplies with an order for replacement ready once a week on the scheduled day.
  • Follow special diet needs of clients as documented by care team and nurse.
  • Must be able to take written and/or verbal orders and perform other duties assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responds to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Assures that all ABHS’ clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect and in a timely manner.
  • Makes decisions based on the welfare of the client, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.
  • Understands and facilitates federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
  • Ensures compliance to contractual obligations, ABHS policies, and State statues (WACs).
  • Cooks will be required to obtain an Agency Affiliated Credential through the Department of Health.
