About The Position

Beacon Brook Center for Health & Rehabilitation, an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, is hiring a Cook to prepare and serve appealing meals for residents. The Cook follows prescribed menus and dietary requirements, accommodates residents’ dietary needs and preferences, and helps create a positive dining experience that enhances their quality of life. The position is listed as 8 hours every other weekend (EOW) at the center in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Requirements

Experience as a Cook; experience in healthcare or long-term care is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Safe knife-handling skills.
Experience operating commercial slicers, ovens, grills, large blenders, and similar equipment.
Ability to follow instructions for the safe use, cleaning, and care of dietary equipment and preparation and service areas.
Compassionate and empathetic nature.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience as a Cook in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook nutritious, flavorful meals following prescribed menus and dietary requirements.
Ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard, with appropriate portion control.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and food storage areas.
Collaborate with dietary staff on menu planning and special dietary needs.
Order and manage inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
