Prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals, working with dietitians, and ensuring food procedures are followed. Administrative tasks such as completing necessary forms and reports are also part of the responsibilities. The cook will assist in establishing food service production lines to ensure timely meal preparation, process diet changes, and prepare appetizing and palatable meals. Serving meals according to portion control, preparing bedtime snacks, and substitute foods are also key duties. Daily cleaning duties, food preparation for special events, and maintaining adequate stock levels of food and supplies are also expected. The role also emphasizes treating residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights, and establishing a culture of compliance. Adherence to safety and hygiene measures, maintaining confidentiality of protected health information, and reporting noncompliance or potential violations are critical. The cook will also participate in emergency drills and trainings, report work-related injuries, and follow infection control procedures. As a condition of employment, all assigned training and skills competency must be completed. Maintaining clean and organized food storage areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are clean and safe, and assisting with inventory are also required. The cook will ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available and recommend equipment and supply needs.
