About The Position

The Cook is responsible for the preparation and presentation of food in their assigned kitchen. You will report to the Supervisor or Manager on duty. This is a part-time position with a variable work schedule of 20-36 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position.

Requirements

  • Experience with reading and following recipes
  • Food Handlers Permit through Choctaw Nation
  • One [1] year directly related experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare soup, salad, gravy, dessert, sauce and casseroles.
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods and add seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking, according to personal judgment and experience.
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers.
  • Observe and test food being cooked by tasting with fork to determine that it is cooked and carve meats, portion food on serving plates, add gravies, sauces and garnish servings to fill orders.
  • Prep food to include washing, peeling, cutting, shredding, trimming and boning.
  • Maintain sanitary environment to include washing dishes, cleaning floors, emptying trash daily.
  • Rotate inventory count stock and stock food to include pick-up at the grocery store.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned within scope and competency of the associate.
  • Prepare different ingredients to be cooked to include washing, chopping, slicing, and peeling of fruits and vegetables.
  • Cook food to include baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, and boiling; provide meals that are cooked, tasty and visually appealing; taste foods before serving and provide garnishes for food plates.
  • Provide high quality, fresh food to guests using standardized recipes and methods of preparation.
  • Control the level of waste by proper production levels and converted portion guidelines.
  • Store and label prepared and open food following the Choctaw Nation food safety guidelines.
  • Practice proper food storage; follow suitable food serving temperatures and documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment by practicing proper housekeeping procedure such as cleaning while working.
  • Help with set-up, service, and clean-up of food production.
  • Rotate stock to ensure usage and disposal occurs before the expiration date.
  • Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
