About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing and cooking food products according to specified procedures and standards. The Cook ensures that food is prepared in a timely, clean, and orderly manner, meeting all quality standards and holding times. The role involves setting up the batter table, preparing batter mix, checking equipment, managing fryers, and preparing sufficient quantities of chicken and other food products to meet business needs. The Cook also maintains a clean and sanitary work area, ensures adequate stock of products and supplies, and keeps the cooler organized and clean. Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to continuously stand and/or walk on hard floors for periods of up to eight (8) hours.
  • Ability to frequently lift and stack 35 to 50 pounds of food and supply items from various heights.
  • Ability to occasionally carry individual stock items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pound trash bags.
  • Ability to frequently push or pull batter table, filter machine, trash cans, brooms, mops, and mop buckets.
  • Ability to occasionally to frequently climb a foot stool or ladder.
  • Ability to frequently stoop or squat.
  • Ability to continuously reach overhead, forward, and underneath various equipment and surfaces.
  • Ability to continuously handle a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures of items.
  • Ability to continuously use fingers to bilaterally prepare food, unload boxes, etc.
  • Ability to continuously communicate with and listen to customers, management, and other team members.
  • Ability to continuously see to be aware of surroundings and perform job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food products as specified by the Manager in Charge of the Shift.
  • Adhere to the specifications and procedures in the Cooking Section of the Church’s Operating Standards Manual (OSM).
  • Set up the batter table, collect necessary smallwares, and prepare batter mix.
  • Ensure call sheets are complete, posted, and used.
  • Check all equipment and report any malfunctions to the Manager in Charge.
  • Color balance fryers and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper levels.
  • Filter and clean all fryers at designated times, following safety guidelines and using provided safety equipment.
  • Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs.
  • Prepare and cook all food product as dictated by business needs and at the direction of the Manager in Charge.
  • Ensure all food product meets specifications, procedures, and quality standards stated in the SOM, including strict observance of designated holding times.
  • Maintain a clean work area by practicing “clean-as-you-go” practices, following sanitation and safety guidelines/procedures.
  • Verify that all necessary product and supplies are stocked and available at the batter area.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the cooler.
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge of Shift.
