About The Position

Arrow Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team at Walden Place in Iowa City, IA. This part-time position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a competitive pay range of $18 - $21 per hour. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality, attractively presented menu items according to established standards and recipes in a timely manner. You will also ensure health protocols, including proper hygiene, sanitary food preparation, and food temperatures, are strictly followed. A key aspect of this role is being a Culinary Connector, which involves familiarizing yourself with residents' preferences and needs and participating in resident orientations.

Requirements

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English with residents.
Possess a current Food Handlers Card as specified per the Department of Health.
Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and competency in the areas of leadership, training, and supervision.
Proficient written and oral communication skills with other members of management, professional, and support staff.
Must be active as this role requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable being in close contact with extreme temperatures, including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers.
Ability to work primarily indoors, but also be available to work outside for events.
Must be criminally cleared.

Responsibilities

Prepare all menu items according to established standards and recipes.
Provide exceptional quality food that is attractively presented in a timely fashion.
Ensure health protocols are always followed, including proper hygiene, sanitary food preparation, and proper food temperatures.
Familiarize yourself with the residents and their preferences and needs.
Participate in resident orientations.
