About The Position

Assists Kitchen Manager in preparing food by performing various duties related to food preparation, safety, and sanitation.

Requirements

  • Ability to read kitchen prep books and manuals for food recipes.
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient use of restaurant equipment including convection ovens, grills, fryers, smokers, steam tables, and microwaves.
  • Six months of previous job-related experience.
  • Food Handler's Permit where applicable.
  • Ability to perform work from a standing position for long periods.
  • Frequent walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, cutting, carrying, kneeling, or stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting not to exceed 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures efficient food flow in the kitchen while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Prepares vegetables and side items by washing, peeling, and cutting.
  • Prepares and smokes meats and poultry by cleaning, cutting, and preparing.
  • Accurately measures food weights and portion sizes.
  • Transports food items using pans, containers, and trays between workstations, smokers, and refrigerators.
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils, and manages garbage removal and container cleaning.
  • Utilizes cleaning products safely and according to instructions.
  • Adheres to safety procedures for kitchen supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by assuming responsibilities and performing tasks as needed ('shift to assist').
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
