About The Position

Are you looking for a fast-paced restaurant job where your work makes a difference? Join the Zaxby's team as a Cook and help us serve great food while creating memorable experiences for every guest. Whether you have previous kitchen experience or are starting your first restaurant job, we provide the training you need to succeed. The Cook is a non-exempt team member position that reports to the Assistant Manager, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager. In this role, you will prepare, cook, assemble, and package menu items according to Zaxby's recipes and quality standards. You will help ensure every order is accurate, fresh, and served in a timely manner. As a Cook, you will complete required training through Zaxby's University, hands-on station training, and any additional company training programs. You will learn how to safely operate fryers, grills, knives, food preparation equipment, and other restaurant equipment. You will maintain appropriate product levels at your assigned station so the kitchen is prepared to meet guest demand during busy meal periods. Daily responsibilities include preparing and cooking menu items, assembling guest orders, receiving and stocking inventory deliveries, rotating and storing food correctly, and keeping kitchen and storage areas clean and organized. You will follow food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and workplace safety procedures at all times. You will also monitor inventory levels, notify management when products or supplies are needed, and report equipment or maintenance concerns promptly. Successful Cooks work with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy, food quality, and safety. You should be dependable, comfortable working as part of a team, and willing to assist wherever needed. All team members are expected to provide friendly, enthusiastic service, maintain awareness of current promotions, represent the Zaxby's brand positively, and help with other restaurant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Occasional need to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, or climb a ladder.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds, including occasional overhead lifting.
  • Ability to use hands and wrists continuously for grasping, food preparation, equipment operation, and detailed tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Maintain awareness and judgment necessary to work safely around fryers, knives, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Dependable.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Willing to assist wherever needed.
