About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing and serving the daily meals to the tenants and guests at Sunlight Senior Living. This position must fulfill expectations of exceptional customer service.

  • Demonstrate to the regulating authority knowledge of food-borne disease, prevention, application of the hazard analysis critical control point principles and the requirement of the Minnesota Food Code.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and storage of food service products, including examining foodstuffs and supplies for quality and quantity, placing them in appropriate storage, and recording shortages.
  • Food production, including being familiar with the weekly menu, pulling food as needed, preparing meals according to the daily census, adjusting recipes, utilizing food preparation tools and equipment, weighing, measuring, mixing, baking, and cooking ingredients, applying personal knowledge and experience in food preparation, and minimizing waste.
  • Safe food handling skills and practices, including practicing strict personal hygiene, monitoring and documenting time and temperature of food and appliances, proper thawing, avoiding cross-contamination, cooking to required internal temperatures, holding foods at appropriate temperatures, cooling cooked foods properly, and reheating to the required internal temperature.
  • Customer service and meal presentation, including meeting the daily mealtime schedule, practicing proper portion control, and plating meals attractively.
  • Sanitation of the food service area, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas, maintaining an organized and clean work area, assisting with general cleaning, and disposing of trash and recycling properly.
  • Operation and maintenance of facility, equipment, and appliances, including proper operation of all kitchen equipment and notifying the Chef Supervisor of any equipment failure or malfunction.
  • Other support functions and tasks, including coordinating with the Chef Supervisor to complete work schedules for Wait Staff, overseeing Wait Staff (training, direction, documentation), demonstrating knowledge of food-borne disease prevention and the Minnesota Food Code, ordering supplies as needed, and documenting and communicating incident reports.
