About The Position

PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking a Cook to provide on-site food preparation and meal services within a federally supported residential program in Estacada, Oregon. This role is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to students and staff in accordance with facility standards, ensuring food quality, sanitation, and safety while supporting the daily operations of the Center's food service program. The Cook is a required labor category supporting center operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) year or more of experience in commercial food preparation, institutional food service, restaurant, school, military, healthcare, or cafeteria environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to prepare meals for large groups while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must successfully pass all required background investigations and federal security requirements before beginning work.

Nice To Haves

  • ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Certification.
  • Previous experience in school nutrition programs, correctional facilities, military dining facilities, hospitals, or other institutional food service settings.
  • Experience preparing meals for large residential populations.
  • Knowledge of nutritional guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special meals in accordance with approved menus and standardized recipes.
  • Ensure meals are prepared on schedule while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures, storage, labeling, and inventory rotation using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices.
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting, storing, and rotating food deliveries and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of food and supply needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, food preparation areas, dining facilities, and storage areas.
  • Follow all sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist with portion control to minimize waste while meeting nutritional requirements.
  • Accommodate approved special diets and food allergies as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with food service staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Maintain accurate food production and sanitation records as required.
  • Participate in required inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities.
  • Assist with kitchen opening and closing duties.
  • Perform other food service-related duties as assigned.
