This position is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. The Cook prepares tasteful meals, cooks a variety of foods in large quantities, follows prepared menus and portion control guides, and accurately prepares special diets, including pureed foods. The role also involves maintaining a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment, recording food temperatures, and ensuring sanitizer buckets are properly maintained. The Cook assists with serving meals, cleans the cooking area and serving carts, and reports resident care concerns to the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses. Additionally, the Cook participates in the training of dietary staff, ensures cleaning schedules are followed, and makes food presentations appealing to residents. This role has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
