About The Position

An employee in this role will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for clients and community programs delivered by Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. The role ensures food safety standards are met while providing meals that cater to diverse dietary needs and preferences. The Cook works collaboratively with program staff to plan menus, support special events, and accommodate dietary needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler Certification (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in institutional or community setting
  • Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities
  • Knowledge and experience of Anishinabek Health and Traditional healing practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to prepare meals for groups of various sizes
  • Knowledge of nutrition and food safety standards
  • Ability to accommodate dietary needs with creativity and care
  • Strong interpersonal skills
