The Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. This role reports to the Dietary Supervisor and involves preparing tasteful meals, following menus and portion control guides, and accurately preparing special diets. The Cook must maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment, record food temperatures, prepare pureed foods, and ensure cleaning schedules are followed. Cooperation with other departments and staff is essential, as is the ability to make food presentations appealing to residents. This position has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
