About The Position

Prepares food for staff and/or patients using standard recipes. Performs diversified duties in the dietary department. Follows standard practices and complies with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Training in institutional food preparation or equivalent
  • Health Card/California Food Handler Card

Responsibilities

  • Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality assurance, quality control, customer relations, safety, environmental and infection control. Addresses all customers in a pleasant and respectful manner, giving direction and information as needed.
  • Utilize safety and sanitary procedures when using utensils and food. Use recipes for preparation of food. Use slicer, buffalo chopper, knives, grill, deep fat fryer, ovens, blender, and other utensils for preparation of food.
  • Portion food onto patient’s trays following marked menu or standard menu.
  • Keep the area safe and clean so employees will be able to work more efficiently.
  • Responsible for employee supervision and operation of the Dietary Department when the Dieticians are unavailable.
  • Follow direction from labels on products and do simple math calculations.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned or requested.
