About The Position

The Cook prepares food as instructed by managers, ensuring all food exhibits a high quality of taste and appearance to satisfy guests and maximize food revenues. This role is responsible for various aspects of food preparation, including setting up and breaking down the front line, managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensuring food quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • 1 year of food preparation experience preferred and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Any food handling permits as required by state or local law.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food as instructed by managers, ensuring high quality of taste and appearance.
  • Ensures the front line is completely broken down at the end of the shift, including proper food storage and equipment cleaning.
  • Sets up the front line effectively, ensuring adequate stocking of menu products.
  • Rotates food products using the first-in, first-out method to preserve quality and control waste.
  • Maintains an orderly, clean, safe, and sanitary work station.
  • Checks AM and PM checklists to determine food preparation needs.
  • Ensures all food products are properly labeled and dated.
  • Cooks food according to recipes and in quantities to meet demand.
  • Inventories food, supplies, and equipment weekly.
  • Orders kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Maintains daily temp logs and waste logs.
  • Directs personnel assisting in meal preparation and serving.
  • Receives, dates, and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Carries food items to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
  • Properly stores foods following wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures.
  • Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Advises supervisor of low inventory items and assists with receiving and tracking inventory.
  • Maintains sanitation and cleanliness standards that meet or exceed health board and franchise requirements.
  • Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
