We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Cook to bring flavor, comfort, and nourishment to the seniors in our Health Center, Personal Care areas, and Green Houses®. If you take pride in your craft and love making meals that brighten someone's day, this role is for you!

Requirements

  • At least one year of hands-on experience preparing meals in a high-volume kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Review production sheets before preparing meals to stay organized and on track.
  • Pull ingredients from the freezer in advance to ensure safe and timely thawing.
  • Prepare meals using standardized recipes and department guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Track tallies accurately to produce just the right amount, avoiding waste and missed items.
  • Taste as you go to ensure meals are not only safe and nutritious, but delicious and beautifully presented.
  • Make sure all units, including Health Center, Personal Care, and Green Houses®, have what they need for every meal. Evening cooks follow a call log to double-check before clocking out.
  • Notify the Sous Chef of any concerns with prep, service, storage, or inventory.
  • Follow all food safety protocols from prep to storage, including proper labeling and discarding of outdated items.
  • Accurately complete daily logs including Cooling, Vegetable Wash, Temperature, and Waste Not reports.
  • Maintain a tidy, sanitized workstation during your shift and leave it spotless at the end.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation rules to protect yourself, your team, and our residents.
