About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare food of the highest quality and taste for residents and guests of the Community ensuring that the food presentation enhances the dining experience of the residents and guests. The Cook will prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented, making each meal service an exceptional occasion. They will supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook, preparing high-quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes. The role requires consistent adherence to standard recipes, budgeted costs, and Company policies. Additionally, the Cook will supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils, and properly maintain all kitchen equipment. They will monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease. The Cook is expected to approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable.
  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Must have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills.
  • Must possess a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • Adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.
