About The Position

Join a Team That Has Been Caring for Seniors with Heart Since 1962 Do you enjoy preparing meals for others? Do you have a passion for ensuring food is prepared with attention to detail, safety, and compassion? If so, we are looking for a Cook to help our residents feel nourished, comfortable, and cared for. Here’s what you’ll do: · Follow cycle menus, food production sheets, standardized recipes and therapeutic diet orders in preparing and serving the specified quantities of food. · Prepare, season, cook, and serve for assigned meal(s); ensure appropriate servings according to portion control standards. · Work cooperatively with the serving staff to insure high quality food is being served and proper amounts are being maintained. · Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal services. · Responsible for cleaning and proper use of equipment; reports repairs needed. · All work areas and assigned kitchen equipment is cleaned on a consistent basis and passes all kitchen inspections. · All equipment problems are reported as soon as possible. · Wash pots and pans in a 3-compartment sink. · Ensure the 3-compartment sink is appropriately used in regards to temperature and sanitization. · Follow established guidelines for quality food production. · Coordinate standards of quality food handling with proper sanitation standards. · All sanitation guidelines are strictly followed regarding handling of food. · Additional job duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must meet facility immunization requirements (e.g., flu shot, COVID-19 if applicable)
  • Adhere to safe food handling and storage guidelines
  • Must follow infection prevention, sanitation, and safety protocols
  • Willingness to take part in scheduled weekend/holiday rotations
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to hot surfaces and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Previous cooking for large groups or long-term care experience is desired
