This position involves preparing, assembling, baking, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors. The cook will prepare and serve food within the guidelines of the menu and dietary requirements, adhering to food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. The role also includes washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas, and maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. The cook is expected to prepare and provide the highest quality and safest food possible, work effectively with internal customers requiring strong communication and teamwork skills, and adapt to a dynamic culinary environment. Following standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage is crucial. Documentation of HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes is required, along with adherence to production sheets for daily and weekly menus. The position requires operating various kitchen equipment and the ability to work independently. A strong understanding of food safety, sanitation processes, basic math for measurements, and the ability to read and understand recipes are essential. The role involves being on feet for the majority of the day and walking significant distances throughout the hospital.
