About The Position

LSS Canyon Hill's Center is hiring a Cook to prepare meals for youth ages 10 to 17 in a residential care setting. The youth served may have diverse mental health, behavioral, substance use, and legal challenges. The role is available full-time or part-time, with afternoon food-preparation shifts, evening dinner shifts, and weekend hours. The hourly salary is $18.00–$20.00, depending on education and experience. A hiring bonus is available to external candidates. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 21 years old.
• Willingness to complete agency background checks, including checks for criminal convictions involving behavior harmful toward children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
• Maintain a valid driver's license or obtain one with approved driver status.

Nice To Haves

• Previous meal preparation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritious, well-balanced meals for youth in a residential care setting.
• Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
• May assist with food purchasing, inventory management, and special events while maintaining established budgets.
• Ensure kitchen and food storage areas meet health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Safely operate kitchen equipment and maintain clean, organized, and stocked work areas.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, equipment, and food preparation surfaces.
• Train and supervise youth assisting with kitchen duties while promoting a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
