About The Position

The Cook at Southern Utah Veterans Home is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established recipes, dietary guidelines, and safety standards. This role ensures that all meals served to our veterans are nutritious, delicious, and presented in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a cook or in a similar food preparation role preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors of supply needs.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
