The Cook prepares food in accordance with menus, diet specifications, resident preference, and sanitary practices under the supervision of the Food and Nutrition Services Manager or Dining Services Manager. This role involves preparing, cooking, and serving food, ensuring quality, taste, and texture, and maintaining appropriate food temperatures. The Cook also partners with supervisors on menu reviews and substitutions, manages food supply availability, and maintains a clean and safe work area. Proper food storage, rotation, preparation, and labeling are essential, adhering to Federal, State, and local guidelines and company policy. The Cook is also responsible for reporting faulty equipment, following safety protocols, and assisting with special meals and events. Company-wide responsibilities include demonstrating core values, supporting a dignified atmosphere, protecting privacy, and maintaining a safe working environment.
