About The Position

UF Health Rehabilitation Hospital Gainesville, an affiliate of Select Medical, is seeking a PRN/Per-diem Cook. This role involves preparing food for patients, staff, and guests, and assisting with general cleaning of cooking and eating areas. In the absence of the Manager, the Cook supervises the dietary staff, ensuring adherence to facility and departmental policies, as well as proper sanitation, safety, and infection control procedures. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented team player, an inventive problem solver, and committed to providing high-quality food preparation and service.

Requirements

One (1) year cooking experience required.

Nice To Haves

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Culinary Arts degree preferred.
Completion of state or local food safety training course preferred.
Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare foods for patients, staff, and guests.
Assist with general cleaning of the cooking and eating areas.
Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Manager, ensuring adherence to facility and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure proper sanitation, safety, and infection control policies are followed.
Accept and understand both verbal and written instructions.
Provide high-quality food preparation and service.
Clean and maintain equipment to meet department standards.
Maintain high standards of quality food production and portion control.
Demonstrate a willingness to help with work that needs to be done.
Take initiative to identify problems and bring about positive and sustainable solutions.
