Under the direct supervision of the Dietary Manager, the cook will prepare, season and cook food for hospital patients, staff and visitors. This role involves determining types and quantities of food to be prepared based on menus, ensuring meals are ready at specified times, and consulting with a Registered Dietitian on modified diets. The cook will measure and mix ingredients, prepare sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, and desserts, and cook various types of meat, fish, and fowl. Responsibilities also include carving meats, testing foods for doneness, adjusting heat controls, and improving flavor and texture. The position requires adherence to infection prevention and control practices, maintaining a clean kitchen, and optimizing patient safety. The cook must also maintain regulatory requirements, ensure patient confidentiality, and perform additional duties as requested. The individual is expected to support the mission, vision, and goals of Avem Health Partners, exhibit positive customer service, communicate accurately, handle difficult situations professionally, and hold themselves accountable for professional practice. Participation in performance improvement activities, staying current with literature, and seeking educational opportunities are also key aspects of the role. The cook may act as a preceptor, must demonstrate excellent work attendance, and adhere to the company's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior, as well as all health and safety requirements.
