About The Position

The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is seeking a Cook. This is a classified position with state benefits, including health insurance, retirement, life insurance and disability coverage. Requirements

General knowledge of health regulations
Skill in food preparation
Knowledge of food equipment and cleaning supplies
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Proficiency level of “Novice” in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years.
Ability to lift 35-50 pounds, perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing.
Ability to tolerate various chemicals and varied temperatures.

Nice To Haves

Some experience in the preparation of large quantities of food.
