About The Position

We’re seeking an experienced Cook with strong large-batch production skills to prepare, cook, and package meals for our Meal Program. The ideal candidate can read and scale recipes, works efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, and follows strict food safety and sanitation standards. You are highly self-motivated and empathetic, a ‘people person’ with a strong desire to support our mission and your colleagues. You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

• 2+ years of large-batch or institutional cooking experience
• Ability to read and follow recipes in English
• Strong math and communication skills
• NYC Food Protection Certificate or SERV Safe Certification (required)
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs)
• Flexible schedule required — availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook large quantities of food and soup following standardized recipes
• Scale recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality
• Operate kettles, tilt skillets, ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment
• Supervise and assist volunteers during production and packaging
• Maintain cleanliness and compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations
• Accurately label, date, and store prepared meals
• Cross-train and assist with other kitchen functions as needed
