About The Position

Spiegelworld is looking for an experienced Cook STEX to join the team at Diner Ross Steakhouse at the LINQ in Las Vegas. The Cook is responsible for executing on a world class menu to create a dining experience that guests will savor long after they have taken their last bite. The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and personal standards and ability to work independently, as well as with a team. Ultimately, you will ensure we provide an excellent guest experience by preparing polished yet unpretentious dishes, and delivering them consistently. This position reports to the Chef de Cuisine. Potential shifts are Wednesday thru Sunday, 10am-6pm or 3pm-11pm. This is a steady extra position and the schedule will be based on the team’s needs that pays $26.103/hour.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in a high volume professional kitchen or culinary school environment.
  • Basic understanding of cooking techniques and proper knife skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Polished appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Possess a commitment to quality service.
  • A highly motivated and energetic personality with a strong commitment to excellence in hospitality.
  • Must have understanding of food allergies and preventing cross contamination.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled/needed.
  • Successful background check clearance prior to hire.
  • Must have valid work authorization for the US.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of prep or line cook experience in a similar professional kitchen environment.
  • Completed formal culinary training or apprenticeship.
  • ServSafe Certification for Food Handling.

Responsibilities

  • Set up a work station according to kitchen guidelines.
  • Prepare, seasons, finishes, and garnishes designated recipes/menu items as assigned in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.
  • Read tickets and prepare food items accordingly with 100% accuracy.
  • Actively engage in our antiracist commitment and internal practices by participating in offered learnings, engaging in conversations around Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, and helping us maintain a safe and welcoming workspace.

  • Follow standardized presentations and seek approval on presentations for special request items.
  • Maintain quality standards set forth by management and report any inconsistencies as necessary.
  • Inspect all refrigeration and dry storage for proper temperature, handling and rotation of products.
  • Wrap, labels and date all food products in accordance with SNHD standards.
  • Work cleanly and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with SNHD guidelines.
  • Accurately handling food items to minimize waste and maintain health code.
  • Maintain a true understanding of the food regulations with the ability to recite upon request.
  • Stock designated station for the next shift.
  • Operate kitchen equipment in a safe and sanitary manner with complete understanding of how the equipment works.
  • Work a station independently and efficiently with little or no assistance during regular business volumes.
  • Taking part in pre-service duties and applicable closing duties.
  • Demonstrating a passion for details and a willingness to learn.
  • Upholding service preparation and culinary standards to ensure a memorable guest experience.
  • Prepare special requests as necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in the training of new employees as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
