This role involves preparing, assembling, baking, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors. The cook will prepare and serve food according to menu and dietary requirements, adhering to food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Responsibilities include washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas, and maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. The position requires preparing and providing high-quality, safe food, working effectively with internal customers, and demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills in a dynamic culinary environment. The cook will follow standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for food preparation and storage, document HACCP steps, and use production sheets for daily and weekly menus. Operation of various kitchen equipment is expected, along with the ability to work independently and an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Basic math skills for measuring and proficiency in reading recipes are necessary. The role requires the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances within the hospital.
