About The Position

Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge is seeking skilled Chefs/Cooks to join their team. The ideal candidate values working with fresh, local products and is looking for a great work/life balance. This role encourages creativity with menus across various venues including fine dining, a bistro pub, and a coffee shop. The Cook 2 works with minimal supervision, assisting with preparations and service for the restaurant, buffets, care areas, and banquets. They will also recommend menu changes to enhance resident satisfaction, control waste, and improve quality. The ideal candidate shows interest in growing their talents, maintaining high quality and attention to detail, with opportunities for upward mobility and internal promotion.

Requirements

Two years of experience in commercial, institutional, or related volume food preparation.
ServSafe Certification – preferred (can acquire on site)
High School diploma, GED or equivalent
Experience in a commercial kitchen or a professional culinary program
Knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of food preparation
Ability to use standard food preparation utensils
Available to evening, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Assists with job training for new associates in order to teach cooking skills and ensure compliance with safety, sanitary and food preparation requirements.
Prepares and directs preparation of regular and special diet foods according to prescribed menus and recipes.
Review production sheets and special event sheets in order to prepare appropriate items and quantity of items for assigned menus and events.
Checks quality of MEP for area and all cook I in assigned area to ensure all products meet standards.
