The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of Patient, Retail and Catering Service areas on both the North and South Campus, serving patients, visitors, and employees with excellent customer service. Our qualified staff services the patients' nutritional needs during their hospital stay according to specified guidelines to improve their clinical status and assist in the healing process.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years experience
• No Supervisor Experience

Responsibilities

• Performs food production activities such as pre-preparation and preparation of hot foods for the patients, staff and guests.
• Responsible as the Lead Cook for the department management in Managers and/or Lead Employees absence.
• Prepares food items as assigned according to standardized recipes, food preparation guidelines and sanitation standards.
• Consistently checks food for quality and correct temperature.
• Maintains cost control and minimizes waste when preparing food.
• Accommodates and has knowledge of special dietary requests.
• Assists with the success of other dietary team members and assumes lead responsibility in management's absence.
