About The Position

Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a nationwide team providing jobs for people with significant disabilities, including war-wounded veterans. Since 1986, GCE has helped match team members to fulfilling careers in various fields. Working with diverse customers, GCE is one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities. The Cook I will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of food items for various meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. Responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Requirements

• Must possess knowledge of basic operation of a kitchen.
• Understand oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to read and quantify recipes, and menus.
• Interact appropriately with customers, government personnel, subcontractor, and GCE management, and team members.
• Meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
• Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
• Regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive), and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
