About The Position

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Cook I for their ISS2 contract supporting an Air Force customer on Wake Island. This is a temporary position lasting a maximum of 90 days. The role involves preparing meals in a cafeteria environment according to preplanned menus, within established budgets, and in compliance with government and management directives. The cook will prepare the required quantity of food, assist in serving appetizing and appealing meals using safe and hygienic methods, and ensure the work area is safe, clean, and sanitary. Responsibilities also include unloading food and supplies, ensuring compliance with USDA and other standards, maintaining accountability of customers and property, adhering to safety practices, and performing other related duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain a Certified Food Professional Certification.
  • Two (2) years of previous food-service experience in a commercial or institutional environment.
  • One (1) year experience as a line cook or prep cook in addition to the 2 years of food-service experience.
  • Experience with safe food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures to prevent contamination.
  • Ability to do recipe construction.
  • Speak and understand English.
  • Valid driver's license with suitable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment fingerprints, background check, and drug screen.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquires background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all meals in accordance with preplanned menus within established budgets and in compliance with government and management directives.
  • Prepare and cook the quantity of food required according to the menu and the number of customers.
  • Assist in preparing and serving appetizing, appealing meals using safe and hygienic methods for employees and as directed for special functions and visitors.
  • Ensure that the work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas and the cafeteria after each meal.
  • Unload food and supplies from delivery trucks.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA and all pertaining standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain accountability of customers and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
