About The Position

Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a nationwide team providing jobs for people with significant disabilities, including our war-wounded veterans. Working with customers from the U.S. military, commercial business and community partners – as well as federal, state and local governments – GCE is one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities. The Cook I will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of food items for various meal periods to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but GCE may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Requirements

• Must possess knowledge of basic operation of a kitchen
• Understand oral and/or written instructions
• Ability to read and quantify recipes, and menus
• Interact appropriately with customers, government personnel, subcontractor, and GCE management, and team members
• Meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract
• Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of food items for various meal periods to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events

Benefits

• Health and Welfare (H&W) dollars on behalf of team members covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA). The current H&W rate is $4.93 per eligible hours worked and are applied to employee benefits.
