This position is responsible for maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance, monitoring stock of kitchen supplies and food, determining food presentation and creating decorative food displays, and monitoring the quantity of food prepared and portions served. The role also involves setting up and breaking down the work station, preparing ingredients for cooking (including portioning, chopping, and storing food), pulling food from freezer storage to thaw, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, and preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Additionally, the cook will monitor food quality while preparing food. The role also includes assisting management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model, and following all company and safety and security policies and procedures. This includes reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, and completing safety training and certifications. Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to company standards, speaking with others using clear and professional language, and supporting the team to reach common goals are also key responsibilities. The cook will listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees and ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Physical requirements include reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, and performing other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
