About The Position

Under supervision, assists in planning, preparing, cooking and serving meals and cleaning the kitchen and surrounding work area at the Senior Center or other designated sites.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Six (6) months of commercial cooking experience or experience preparing a variety of food in large quantities
  • Knowledge of food preparation and cooking
  • Knowledge of food service equipment
  • Knowledge of basic nutritional guidelines
  • Knowledge of Washington State Health and Fire codes
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
  • Skills in cooking, baking and serving high-quality, nutritious meals
  • Skills in oral and written communications
  • Skills in working as a team member
  • Frequently required to stand, bend, reach, and lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently exposed to high temperatures and liquids while cooking.
  • Occasionally exposed to freezing temperatures while storing and retrieving food from cold storage.
  • Continuous use of close vision.
  • State of Washington Food Handler’s Permit

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Washington State driver’s license may be required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing, cooking and serving food.
  • Receives and stores food and cleaning supplies.
  • Cleans work site; maintains good housekeeping and sanitary conditions.
  • Maintain Washington State Health Code standards.
