About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for providing nutritious meals to children and maintaining a clean classroom environment. The role involves cooking breakfast, lunch, and snacks for preschool-aged children and staff, adhering to food program guidelines and accommodating specialized diets. The cook also handles center shopping, meal setup and cleanup, and maintains a clean kitchen. Additionally, the housekeeper is responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitizing of the preschool classroom, including bathrooms and office areas, following a checklist for tasks like vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, and garbage removal. Monthly deep cleaning is also part of the role.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency
Minimum one-year of food service experience
Minimum one-year experience cleaning required
Basic computer skills/experience
Knowledge of required food temperatures
Knowledge of preventing cross contamination of foods
Valid California Driver's License and proof of current automobile insurance coverage
Physical Examination, proof of current negative Tuberculosis (TB) test, immunizations required by the organization
Willingness to work irregular hours, attend night meetings and travel, as agency requires

Responsibilities

Provides nutritious meals; breakfast, lunch and snack to a classroom of preschool aged children and teaching staff, following the Child Care Food Program Guidelines.
Provides food substitutions for children with specialized diets.
Does the center shopping.
Helps children with lunch set up and clean up.
Ensures a clean and sanitized kitchen area.
Tracks meals provided on production worksheets and using menu software.
Responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitizing of the preschool classroom that includes bathrooms and office areas.
Vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting bathrooms and taking out the garbage.
Performs monthly deep cleaning on staff workdays.
