About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for providing nutritious meals to children and maintaining a clean classroom environment. The role involves cooking breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to Child Care Food Program Guidelines, handling food substitutions for specialized diets, performing center shopping, and assisting with meal setup and cleanup. The Cook ensures a clean and sanitized kitchen, tracks meals, and utilizes menu software. Training is provided. The Housekeeper is responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitizing of preschool classrooms, bathrooms, and office areas, including vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, and garbage removal. Monthly deep cleaning is also performed.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency.
Minimum one-year of food service experience.
Minimum one-year experience cleaning.
Basic computer skills/experience.
Knowledge of required food temperatures.
Knowledge of preventing cross-contamination of foods.
Valid California Driver's License and proof of current automobile insurance coverage.
Physical Examination.
Proof of current negative Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Immunizations required by the organization.
Willingness to work irregular hours, attend night meetings and travel, as agency requires.

Nice To Haves

ServSafe Certification preferred at time of hiring. Required within 6 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Provides nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, snack) to preschool children and staff following Child Care Food Program Guidelines.
Handles food substitutions for children with specialized diets.
Performs center grocery shopping, generally weekly.
Assists children with lunch setup and cleanup.
Ensures a clean and sanitized kitchen area.
Tracks meals provided on production worksheets and uses menu software.
Performs daily cleaning and sanitizing of preschool classrooms, bathrooms, and office areas.
Follows the Housekeeper Checklist for daily tasks including vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting bathrooms, and taking out garbage.
Conducts monthly deep cleaning on staff workdays.
