About The Position

The Cook / Food Service Worker II (Afternoon/Evenings) provides a variety of intermediate kitchen and cafeteria duties to support nutritional services. This position is responsible for the preparation and cooking of main entrees, a variety of hot and cold foods, and desserts for hospital meals for patients and employees as designated by production sheets.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years direct food service experience
  • Food Handlers Card or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Cook: prepare, cook and serve meals for patient trays and guest/employee meals. Complete cleaning assignments as scheduled, follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency of food product and adequate portion size, plan food production schedule to ensure food is cooked and ready to serve on time; prepares hot meals according to the menu; records food temperatures at completion of food production, food holding and on the serving line; Understands and abides by state and local safe food handling regulations. Practices all HACCP guidelines. May prepare and deliver food under supervision of the Team Leader and/or Director.
  • Cross-train with other areas of the kitchen / food service team to assist when needed.
  • Works as a cohesive team member; communicates clearly and openly with all member of the nutrition services team and healthcare professionals to ensure the needs of the patients are met in a manner consistent with Bethany Children's Health Center’s mission, vision, values and standards
  • Other duties as assigned
