About The Position

The Salvation Army’s Haverhill Corps is hiring a Cook / Food Service Coordinator. This role is responsible for the day-to-day Food Service Operation at the Haverhill Corps. This person must perform duties including but not limited to menu planning, cooking, cleaning, and inventory control. The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, and is non-exempt. The pay range is $15.30 - $21.42 per hour, with an expected hire rate around $20.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience with creating menus and preparing meals for 100 -200 clients
  • ServSafe, Kitchen Manager certified
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Allergen awareness certification
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Understand FIFO inventory control
  • Able to lift an average of 50lbs
  • Able to treat all people of varying background with dignity and respect
  • Able to communicate effectively in English

Nice To Haves

  • Associates and/or Bachelors in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Supervisory skills preferred (to manage volunteers)
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals according to planned menus, with flexibility to creatively utilize food donations
  • Follow all ServSafe protocols regarding proper handling and storage of food and equipment.
  • Regularly clean all kitchen equipment, counters, floors, etc
  • Work and meet regularly with Corps Officer(s) to review personnel issues, menu plans, and supply and purchasing needs
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals on site to those in need, sometimes with the assistance of volunteers
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all volunteers related to the Soup Kitchen
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position.
