About The Position

This is an entry-level position requiring a positive work ethic and adherence to Culinary Guidelines. The role involves learning and understanding personal hygiene, safe food handling practices, and basic culinary skills. Responsibilities include setting up, working, and breaking down food stations efficiently, assisting in all aspects of operation (cashiering, dishwashing, food prep), and working under supervision. The position requires the ability to prepare various foods, follow prep sheets, attend equipment training, read and follow recipes, rotate products, maintain a clean station, demonstrate teamwork, and complete assigned tasks. The cook will also assist with dishwashing, cleaning, re-stocking, and overall restroom cleanliness when needed. Guest service duties include conversing with guests, answering questions about food products, and upselling. This is a seasonal position with potential fluctuations in hours based on business volume. The role functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling the company culture and striving to exceed guest expectations.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Work outside in cold conditions and stand or walk for up to six hours at a time.
  • Use of senses of taste and smell frequently.
  • Use of hands and arms for periods of up to six hours.
  • Peripheral, color, and depth vision are essential.
  • Must own non-slip shoes.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Basic previous culinary experience is necessary.
  • Ability to develop basic culinary skills (competent knife skills and basic cooking technique).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Must fill out an application to be considered for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior cash handling experience a plus.
  • This position may qualify for application under our Colorado Mountain College culinary internship partnership program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares various foods under supervision for cafe.
  • Follows prep sheets accurately and with a sense of urgency.
  • Attends equipment training and practices those techniques.
  • Reads, understands, and follows recipes and standards.
  • Rotates product and keeps a clean station.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and co-operation with other staff.
  • Completes any reasonable task assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists all aspects of operation through dishwashing, cleaning, re-stocking and any other essential duties.
  • Works a food station during service, cooking for, conversing with and assisting guests.
  • Assists with overall restroom cleanliness and duties when needed.
  • Converses with guests and answers any questions they may have about available food products.
  • Offers suggestions and assists operation through upselling.
