Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Previous experience as a conveyor operator or similar in mining or heavy industry
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs or adjustments
  • Understanding safety regulations in a mining environment
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and in an open pit setting
  • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 8x6 rotation.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical fitness to perform labor-intensive tasks, including working at heights and in tight areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods of time
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to various work conditions.
  • Effective and respectful communication with colleagues, trainees, and leadership.
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of plant operations, circuit flow and equipment.
  • Ability to conduct equipment inspections, operate, maintain, and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and energy isolation procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for teamwork and coordination colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Millwright experience or certification preferred
  • Previous experience operating support equipment such as utility loaders and skid steers is considered an asset.
  • First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain conveyor systems in an open pit mining environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify any issues or wear and tear on equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to optimize conveyor functionality.
  • Follow safety protocols and work in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures.
  • Conduct equipment checks, inspect conveyor systems, including belt alignment, idlers, pulleys, and general condition.
  • Collaborate and report all issues with the Plant Supervisor and Control Room Operator to ensure smooth operation of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other operators and work together to support plant operations.
  • General cleanup and Other duties as assigned.
