About The Position

The Machine Operator performs a variety of activities in the production of pressure-sensitive paper. Primary responsibilities encompass machine operation, routine maintenance, and quality control to ensure seamless production processes. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with a starting pay of $22.52.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be willing and available to train on multiple pieces of converting equipment.
  • Ability to use basic computer systems hardware and software.
  • Previous experience in machine operation within a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in operation and quality control tasks.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Team Player: Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with the production team.
  • Basic Math: Understanding and application of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including fractions and decimals.
  • Communication: Effective communication is crucial. You will need to communicate and collaborate with colleagues working different shifts, ensuring smooth shift-exchange and sharing relevant information.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to maintain regular attendance is crucial. The ability to adapt to varying shift lengths and workdays (8-12 hour shifts and occasional weekends).
  • Stamina: Often involves extended periods of activity and concentration.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills to stay focused, prioritize tasks, and maintain productivity throughout the entire shift.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Follow all EHS standards and regulations, facility work rules, and contribute to the safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Pre-start crane safety checklists.
  • Attend all safety training and meetings.
  • Contribute to the Hazard ID program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the slitter machine produces quality products.
  • Ensure proper materials and machine settings are used.
  • Ensure that all instructions are carried out according to the customer's needs.
  • Ensure all paperwork and data entry are completed accurately.
  • Follow environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards and regulations.
  • Monitor deviations in materials and running conditions; make corrections with crew assistance and report deviations to supervision.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Communicate support needs of the machine center as required.
  • Perform other duties as required, including assisting in preparation and packaging.
  • Identify each individual roll coming off the slitter with the proper pre-designated number representing the web location (roll labeling).
  • Work towards optimizing productivity and waste reduction.
  • Perform all 5S activities assigned in the time frame provided per procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Converting Manager, or Lead Operator.
